My main scientific interest is the search for new ways to strengthen the resistance of flax to infections caused by pathogenic strains of fungi of the Fusarium genus. One way is by sensitizing non-pathogenic microorganisms. It is currently known that the non-pathogenic strain of Fusarium oxysporum can protect flax against pathogenic strains, but the mechanism of its action is not yet known.

The aim of the project, which is currently being carried out, is to find out the exact mechanism of the protective effect of the non-pathogenic strain of Fusarium oxysporum, which leads to the immunization of flax against infections with the pathogenic strain of Fusarium oxysporum, and to check whether the immune memory caused by the action of the non-pathogenic strain can be inherited. I am particularly interested in the influence of a non-pathogenic strain on the organization of the cell wall, redox status, induced systemic immunity and systemic acquired immunity, and the modification of chromatin in flax.

At the same time, he continues his research on the analysis of transgenic plants overexpressing ß-1,3-glucanase, which are characterized by an increase in resistance to Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium culmorum infection. My previous research has shown that overexpression of the ß-1,3-glucanase gene in flax leads to the production of a stronger and better quality fiber enriched with pectins and phenolic derivatives and shives with a changed composition of pectins with a high antioxidant potential. Current research focuses on changes in cell wall structure and polyamine content during plant development.
