● prof. dr hab. Jan Szopa In 1969, he obtained a master's degree in the field of natural sciences, then in 1972 he defended his doctorate, and in 1977 he received his habilitation. He was awarded the degree of full professor in 1987. In the course of his career, he received a number of awards and decorations (twice by the Polish Biochemical Society in 1971 and 1973, the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1991 and the Prime Minister of Poland in 2009). Scholarship holder of the Humboldt Foundation (1978-1980, 1982-1983), the Max Planck Institute (1994-2004) and the French Government (2001, 2002). He is the author and co-author of over 150 scientific publications. He is a co-founder of the scientific journal Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology Letters and a member of the Editorial Board of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry. Co-founder of the new variety of SILESIA linen. In 2009, he founded the Linum Foundation, a non-profit organization promoting flax products for use in healthcare. As part of the Foundation's activities, he co-created linen dressings for the treatment of chronic wounds - the flagship product of the Foundation, which today offers a number of biomedical products based on flax. Research interests: valorization of flax products; plant engineering; plant metabolism; compounds of natural origin.
