Current
Research interests
In looking at my research
program since 1973, I realize that I am involved mostly in many various
aspects of resorcinolic lipids in cereals, from isolation,
characterization, analysis and determination to their biological
activities and recently biosynthesis and physiological role. Although
at present my research topics are focused in establishing some general
scheme of mutual relationship between lipid and phenolic lipid
metabolism in plant and bacterial cell, the studies on the further
characterization of these compounds and their biological activities as
well as the role of lipids, in general, in modulation of the
cellular functioning are continued.
Other important topic deals
with research on liposomes as drug carriers. It includes research on
establishing new formulations of drug-delivering liposomes with the use
of natural amphiphilic modifiers.
Student projects involves
whatever is required to reach a solution to above problems, including
studies of cell and bacterial cultures, biochemistry, natural products
chemistry, molecular biology and genetic regulation.
